Salt air is hard on doors

Salt in the air corrodes cables at the bottom bracket where water already sits, rusts through bottom sections, and seizes rollers and hinges. A door that would last fifteen years in Morris County often does not last that long two blocks from the water.
Worth knowing when you are deciding between repairing and replacing: on a coastal property, galvanised hardware and a bottom section in better condition are worth more than they look on paper.
